Hope-Full Bowls - A Community Dinner, Fund and Friend Raiser

The FRS Social Action Committee invites you to join us for Hope-Full Bowls - A Community Dinner, Fund and Friend Raiser on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in Union Hall. (Snow date: January 28) A Syrian-themed dinner at 5:30 p.m. will be followed at 6:30 p.m. by an interactive discussion on what it means to make the journey from Syria to the US, and then what is needed to settle and rebuild your life in the United States. Dinner will feature homemade soups, bread and dessert. We will serve lemon water, coffee and tea, but you are welcome to bring your own beverage.

The presentation will feature Carlisle resident Sean Kavanagh, who, with his wife Donna Vaillancourt, hosted the Alloh family (7 Syrian refugees) earlier this year until they were able to find suitable housing in Carlisle. Marianne Boswell of LexRap, a Lexington based non-profit serving local refugee needs will also be speaking. Through the story of the Alloh family you will hear first-hand what it takes to leave your native land and resettle in the US.

Please be our guest for dinner. Afterwards, we hope you will feel inspired to join us in making a generous donation toward the needs of the Alloh family. This Event is open to all so please invite your friends and neighbors. Babysitting will be available.

We are asking that you RSVP/register on EventBrite so that we can ensure that we have place settings and seating for all of our guests.
