Environmental Action Committee News

EAC Mission Statement: The seventh UU principle encourages “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” The Environmental Action Committee (EAC) is deeply committed to reducing global warming, saving energy, reducing pollution, and promoting organic and locally grown food. Their goal is to educate and motivate others around those values. They have invited speakers, shown movies, hosted “organic” potluck suppers, written newspaper articles, done research on renewable energy at FRS and installed recycling bins at the church. They purchase fair trade coffee, tea and cocoa as well as compact fluorescent light bulbs for use at the church and they sell those items at events to encourage their use. They encourage involvement in environmental events and rallies.

The EAC meets on the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm at FRS. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend. To contact the EAC, please email eac@uucarlisle.org.

The EAC encourages all homeowners to sign up for a free home energy audit at http://www.nextstepliving.com/frscarlisle. Save money on electric and heating bills while helping the environment. (FRS also gets a small commission for every sign-up).
